KUANTAN, March 9 (Bernama) -- A schoolgirl was found dead with slash wounds on her neck in her room, in Kampung Ketari, Bentong, yesterday.

Bentong Police Chief, Supt Rosli Abdul Rahman said, the sister of Annie Kok Yin Cheng, 17, suspected something amiss when the victim did not pick up her phone calls since morning.
He said the sister, who lived in Karak, had rushed to the house where the victim stayed with her stepfather and two other siblings.
"She arrived at 2pm and found the victim lying in her room with a shirt covering her neck," he said when contacted here today.
Rosli said when the shirt was pulled off, the sister discovered slash wounds on the neck and heavy bleeding on the bed.

The sister and family members had rushed the victim to the Bentong Hopital, but the victim was already dead.
"Investigations conducted around the house revealed that parts of the grills in the kitchen and victim's room were cut, however, no valuable items had been reported missing," he said.
He said he believed the murder was committed by more than one suspect, and the weapon used had not been found.
He added that the police would use a dog unit to detect other evidence around the house, as the area behind it was made up of forrest.
He urged those with information on the case to come forward and assist police investigations.
